1.Dibbles the Doormouse Has Lost His Lucky Handkerchief (movements I – IV)
-Movement I
Oh, Hello there my friend, what’s new?
It’s such a sunny day
You’re looking fine but I think something’s missing there
Where’s your handkerchief? Is it gone?
Did you leave it home, or somewhere else?
I don’t really know in what place
My old handkerchief could be
But I guess I’ll have to leave
I’ll find it where it may be,
Far across the sea, in some foreign land,
Over there, I’ll travel anywhere
To find it, to bring it home
To me
Please remember me while I’m gone,
Looking on my own for it
I will bring it here, I swear!
-Movement II
Have you seen that little mouse?
They have told me he’s gone out of the house.
Where’s he going? I don’t know,
I think he’s going far from home.
Has he lost his handkerchief?
I don’t know what he’s doing here.
Is he going out of town?
I think he’s just looking around!

-Movement IV
I’m looking for, I’m looking for someone I can hold
I’m looking for, I’m looking for someone I can hold
I can’t understand, it fills me with pain,
The less that I lose, the less that I gain,
It’s just like a game I don’t want to play
But I have to keep on looking
I’m looking for, I’m looking for someone I can hold
I’m looking for, I’m looking for someone I can hold
I’m looking for, I’m looking for someone I can hold
I can’t understand, it fills me with pain,
The less that I lose, the less that I gain,
It’s just like a game I don’t want to play
But I have to keep on looking, oh

2.In Lack of a Humdrum Supper
Young Mike Barret was out
playing in the hills again
When he saw the fat old sun go down
Then he knew he would be late
He ran home as fast as he could
But he didn’t have much time
He already knew his mother would
Not be in a good mood tonight
And so he found himself
In lack of humdrum supper
So he went out looking to find
Something to sate his hunger
The mayor of St Chapleton
Was turning sixty-five
And he’d organized a picnic
With cakes and tea and pies
When Mike saw the basket
With the pastries all inside
He took it with him, made a run for the hills
And never looked behind
And though he ran and he yelled
The mayor couldn’t catch him
And Mike knew that if he hid well
The man would never find him
I am gonna get you boy! You will never catch me sir! x9
It was long after dark,
Mike was in his hiding spot
When he saw the mayor give up
And slowly walk back home
Now he could open the basket
And reach in for his prize:
A bottle of wine, a handful of scones
And two blueberry pies
Finally, the clever boy
Could have his hard-earned supper
He ate it all, giving no thought
To what he would tell his mother
Michael Barret fell asleep
In his hideout in the hills
Without a care in the world for what
Would be in store
For him
Would be in store
For him
Would be in store
For him
For him

3.No Milk in All of St. Chapleton
There is no more milk, there is no more milk
There is no more milk in all of St Chapleton
There is no more milk, there is no more milk
There is no more milk, now what will we do?
There is no more milk, there is no more milk
There is no more milk in all of St Chapleton
There is no more milk, there is no more milk
There is no more milk, now what will we do?
Missus Barret, how will we make all our butter and cheese?
Missus Barret, what will we use for our coffee and tea?
Missus Barret, find a solution we're counting on your expertise!
Missus Barret went to a neighboring village near Slough
Missus Barret is going to solve this but I don’t know how
Missus Barret, look over there, here she comes and she's bringing a cow!

4.Ode to the Last of the Living Lepers
There is an old man who lives out of town
He doesn’t come near, and he's never around
He dresses in tatters wherever he goes
And it makes me quite sad that he's always alone
My mom doesn't let me go play near his cave
But I've paid him a visit the last couple of days
Not much of a talker, he smiles with his eyes
But when I go home I can hear how he cries
Old man,
hiding your rashes as time slowly passes
You look from your cave at the sky
Old man,
I'm not gonna tell you to hide!
I’ve wondered quite often why nobody goes
To visit this guy, who everyone knows
They say that he’s dangerous, they say that he’s mad
They don’t seem to notice he’s just really sad
And even though everyone knows he lives there
They wouldn’t allow him into the town square
But I keep him company, I really don’t mind
When you get to know him, he’s really quite kind
Old man,
hiding your rashes as time slowly passes
You look from your cave at the sky
Old man,
I'm not gonna tell you to hide!
He told me a story about days of old
When clouds were all grey, and the wind always cold
When leprosy killed and couldn't be cured
And folks were abandoned to live
on their own.
When I left this town, and traveled the world
I thought of that man, alone in his hole
I wondered if anyone ever said “Hi”
Or if he was lonely while I was so far
When I did return, I went to his cave
I saw it was empty, and I saw a grave
There was nothing on it, not even a name
But I fell beside it and cried just the same
Old man,
hiding your rashes as time slowly passes
You look from your grave at the sky
Old man,
I'm not gonna tell you to hide!
There was an old man who lived out of town
He didn’t come near, and he wasn’t around
He dressed all in tatters wherever he went
And it made me quite sad that he's didn’t have friends
My mom didn't let me go play near his cave
But I paid him a visit a couple days
Not much of a talker, he smiled with his eyes
But when I went home I could hear how he cried
Old man,
hiding your rashes as time slowly passes
You look from your grave at the sky
Old man,
I'm not gonna tell you to hide!

6.Dibbles the Doormouse Has Lost His Lucky Handkerchief (movements V – IX)
-Movement V
-Instrumental-
-Movement VI
What could a mouse be doing in
The middle of the sea?
He's all alone, and looking for
His lucky handkerchief
What could a mouse be doing in
The middle of the sea?
He's all alone, and looking for
His lucky handkerchief
I never saw such courage
In an animal so small
But does he know the risk he's in,
so far away from home?
I never saw such courage
In an animal so small
But does he know the risk he's in,
so far away from home?
If there's a storm, he may never return
If there's a storm, he may never return!
-Movement VII
Well, is this the end of my journey?
Well, does this mean I can’t go on?
Well, is this the end of my journey?
After searching for so long!
Well, this can’t be the end of my journey!
Well, I haven’t found what I was looking for!
And so, I think that I will keep on going
Yeah, until I feel I can be home!
Well (well!), this can’t be the end of my journey!
Well (well!), I haven’t found what I was looking for!
And so (so!), I think that I will keep on going
Yeah (yeah!), until I feel I can be home!
All alone on this island
There must be a way out!
But how to find a safe way home
With the ocean all around?
If I am to survive
I must find something to eat
I will go for a brief snack
With those mushrooms I can see…
-Movement VIII
It’s time to wake up
It’s time to go to sleep, and wake up
I’m afraid I don’t have what you’re looking for
I’m afraid that you have what you’re looking for
Did you really have to go so far from home to find what you were looking for?
Or was it with you this whole time?
You shouldn’t have gone that far from home…
Where are you now? And how will you get home?
There’s an easy way home
Just take my hand
Just take my hand
-Movement IX
Oh, Welcome home my friend
It’s nice to see you once again
We missed you much
But it is great that you are here
After all these years, alone
Thinking on my own
About you, nothing else to do
For me, and I’m glad you’re here again,
Welcome back, my friend
